1-on-1 Chat: Just the Two of You

On Aduvee a call is one girl and you, nobody else in the room. There are three ways to get there: let a random match pick her, choose her from who's online and call from her profile, or start in a live room and go private from there.

What counts as a 1-on-1 chat?

A 1-on-1 chat on Aduvee is a call between you and one girl, and the conversation belongs to the pair of you. There's no audience counting hearts and no group waiting for a turn. You talk, she answers, and either of you can end it.

That sounds obvious until you've spent an evening in a live room, which is the other thing Aduvee has. A live room is one girl talking to a crowd: people drop comments, send gifts, and she reads out the ones she likes. It's fun to watch. It just isn't a conversation. One on one calls are the opposite, because every word on the screen is meant for you.

There are three ways to get into one of those calls, and they suit different moods. We call them doors.

three doors

Door one: let the match pick

Open the match screen, leave the switch on Video and tap Start random chat; a few seconds later someone appears, and Next moves you on if it isn't a fit. The match can't be set to a gender or a country, and the whole walk-through of a random match, from the first ten seconds to the Next button, is on the Aduvee video chat page.

What matters for a 1-on-1 chat is what random is good for: low effort and a surprise. It suits a night when you don't want to decide anything, and it's how a lot of people first meet someone they later look up again through the second door.

Door two: pick her from who's online

The online list is the slow, choosy route. It shows girls who are on the site right now, with a little status under each card, and you can sort it by Popular, Online, New or Following. There's also a row of language tabs, so you can keep to English, Spanish, Portuguese or whichever language you're comfortable in.

Tap a card and you land on her profile. Under her name sit three buttons: Message, Video chat and Follow. Video chat is the one that rings her straight away. There's no separate voice button on a profile, so if you want to ease in, send a message first and see whether she writes back.

This door is also the way back after a good random call: remember her name, find her again in the list and go straight to a 1-on-1 chat from her profile. If you'd like a feel for who tends to be online at different hours, video chat with women from all over the world covers time zones and languages.

Door three: from a live room to a private call

Live rooms sit under the Live tab of the video feed. Inside one, a girl is talking to everyone at once. You can watch, type comments that float across the stream and send gifts with coins. You can't broadcast yourself, though, since live rooms on Aduvee are for watching.

The interesting part is the jump. If the two of you are getting along in the comments, you can go one-on-one from the room and the crowd disappears. It's a bit like chatting to someone across a busy bar and then stepping outside where it's quiet.

This door is good for shy people. You get to hear how she talks and what makes her laugh before you ever turn your own camera on.

Which door fits tonight?

Pick by mood. If you want zero effort and a surprise, use the random match. If you already know the kind of person you'd like to talk to, or the language, use the online list. If you'd rather watch for a bit before saying anything, start in a live room.

Is a 1v1 chat face to face, or can you type?

Both work. A random match on Aduvee has three modes at the bottom of the match screen: Video, Audio and Text. Video is face to face, Audio is voice only with your camera off, and Text pairs you with someone to type with. You switch before you tap Start random chat.

Most people stick with video because that's the point, but the other two are handy. Voice is good when you're in bed with messy hair. Text is good on a crowded train. If you're nervous about the first words, the page on how to talk to girls online works through a warm-up from text to voice to camera.

How private is a one-on-one call?

Only the two of you are in it. Nobody else watches a private call the way a crowd watches a live room. You still control the rest: what's behind you, which details you share, and how long you stay. If someone makes you uncomfortable, leave, then report or block them from their profile menu.

Treat the call like a conversation with someone you met five minutes ago, because that's what it is. Keep your full name, workplace and other accounts to yourself until you actually know her. Anyone can screenshot a screen, so think about what's visible in the frame too. The Is Aduvee safe? page explains each button you have and where it sits.

Calling the same girl again

Calls end for all kinds of reasons. She has to go to work, your battery dies, the conversation runs dry. If you liked her, tap Follow before you leave or open her profile afterwards and follow her there. She'll show up in your Following tab, and her profile keeps the Message and Video chat buttons in the same place.

Next time you open the online list, check Following first. A short message like "still awake?" works better than ringing out of nowhere, and her answer tells you whether she's free for another call.

If you're wondering what the calls themselves cost, the is Aduvee free page lays out the free start and where coins come in.

quick answers

What else do people ask about 1-on-1 chat?

How do I start a 1-on-1 chat?

On the match screen, pick a mode and tap Start random chat. Or open the online list, pick someone and tap Video chat on her profile.

What does 1-on-1 chat actually mean?

A chat between exactly two people. On Aduvee it can be a video, audio or text match, chosen at the bottom of the match screen.

Is a 1-on-1 chat the same as a random chat?

Random is one way in. Choosing someone from the online list and calling her from her profile is the other.

Do I have to install anything to make the call?

No. A 1-on-1 chat on Aduvee happens in your browser, on a phone or a laptop. Open the site and allow your camera.

Does a 1-on-1 chat cost anything?

Your first matches cost nothing; after that, calls run on coins.

What's the difference between a private call and a live room?

A live room has many viewers watching one girl. A one-on-one call has only you two, and you can go from a room into a private call.

Is a camera chat very different from a voice one?

Only in what you share. On camera you see each other; on Audio you only hear each other. You pick the mode before the match starts.

Can I call a girl straight from her profile?

Yes. Every profile has a Video chat button next to Message and Follow.

Will the picture look sharp?

Picture quality follows your camera and connection. Good light in front of you and a steady Wi-Fi signal help more than anything else.
